What to Look For in a Moringa Supplement

Not all moringa supplements are comparable. These five checks take about two minutes and work on any product on any shelf.

1. Is there a full Supplement Facts panel?

Every ingredient should carry an amount. If several ingredients are grouped under an invented name with one combined weight — a proprietary blend — you cannot know how much of anything you are getting.

Moringa Leaf Complex lists three moringa entries with a milligram figure on each. That is the standard to expect.

2. Powder or extract, and at what ratio?

This is the biggest difference between moringa products. A capsule of plain leaf powder contains a few hundred milligrams of leaf. A capsule using a 20:1 extract can represent thousands.

Look for the ratio, then do the multiplication. 235 mg of a 20:1 extract represents about 4,700 mg of leaf. That sum is worth doing on any product you are comparing.

3. What is the capsule made of?

Check the "other ingredients" line beneath the panel. Gelatin capsules are animal-derived, which rules a product out for vegetarians, vegans and some religious diets — and plenty of plant-marketed supplements still use them.

4. Where is it made, and to what standard?

GMP certification is a defined manufacturing standard covering cleanliness, batch records and consistency. Manufacture in an FDA inspected facility means the premises are registered and subject to inspection.

Be careful with wording here. No dietary supplement is FDA approved — there is no such process. Any product claiming FDA approval is describing something that does not exist, and that alone tells you how carefully the rest of the label was written.

5. Has it been tested, and will they show you?

Leafy plants take up what is in the soil they grow in, so contaminant testing genuinely matters for a leaf product. "Lab tested" on a label is a claim rather than proof.

Ask for a certificate of analysis for the batch you receive. A manufacturer who tests properly will generally provide one — and the response tells you something either way.

Apply these to us as well

We would rather you bought a well-made moringa product than a poor one, and these checks are the ones we would want a customer applying to our label too. Every figure on the Moringa Leaf Complex panel is printed and checkable.

What matters less than you think

A long ingredient list. Impressive-sounding blend names. A high price. None of these tells you anything about whether the product delivers a useful amount of moringa — the five checks above do.
